Japanese man found dead in Singapore luxury hotel
A 64-year-old Japanese man was found dead with a stab wound at a luxury hotel in Singapore on Monday, but preliminary investigations showed foul play was unlikely, local police said.

Hotel staff discovered the body of the man, who held Singapore permanent residency, in his bathroom at the Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore on Monday morning with a stab wound on his chest, a police spokesman said.

The police did not immediately release the man’s name and other personal details but classified it as an “unnatural death” – a term used for deaths of a sudden and violent nature, including murder and suicide.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that foul play was unlikely. Police investigations are on-going,” spokesman Stanley Norbert said in a statement.

Asked by AFP if it was a possible suicide case, he said by telephone that “it’s too early to say.”

The Straits Times newspaper’s website quoted Peter Mainguy, general manager of the Ritz-Carlton, as saying: “This is an internal private matter. There has been no breach of security and no sign of criminal activity.”

He said the hotel has closed-circuit television cameras “to monitor activities on its premises,” the report added.

Happy new year to all of you out there!!!

Finally I’m back to blogging. Had a crazy December, busy most of the days with luch hitting atleast 150 pax and dinner at 200 minimum.

Anyway, good news!! I’m no longer doing the breaskfast egg station now. Been ‘promoted’ the kitchen.

It’s really a good move on my chef’s part cos it will be good for my career.

Anyway, my chef is quite happy with my performance so far and is considering giving me a promotion, hopefully before june.

Another news, my Australian chef finally left Ritz *Phew*. Life is so much better without him in the restaurant.

Finally graduated from Shatec with a Diploma in Culinary. Didn’t attend the ceremony cos I was working that day. Anyway, the cert was rather a dissapointment cos it’s just a plain piece of paper… Oh well~

GTG now, hopefully I’m able to blog more.

I’M HOME!!!!

Just got back from a movie and a concert with sillyger.

Met up with her at 1.30 at the Esplanade to watch ABBA.

Honestly, I think the concert is ’so so’. No energy at all…..

But I’m very puzzled, how come ABBA still look so young???? They still look like they are in their late 20s or early 30s… Hmmm….

Anyway, after ABBA we went to Paste De Waraku for dinner.

Not bad at all. I recommend you guys to go try it out. It’s on the 2nd level of Marina Square, just above the Killiney cafe.

After dinner we walked around and finally went for a movie.

We watched ‘Painted Skin’. It’s about demons and stuffs…

Sillyger said the night before that we should watch it cause she saw from a Taiwan news saying that it will be a good movie and there’s lots of ppl queueing up just to watch the show.

But the show was horrible, so I DO NOT recommend this show at all….

That’s all for tonight’s entry, I wanna sleep……….

Breakfast & Lobster~

•September 16, 2008 • 1 Comment

Hi everyone,

I know I’ve not been blogging for quite awhile now and that’s because I’ve been really lazy to do so.

Anyway, been doing the breakfast shift for almost 3 months now…

I actually told my chef that i wanted to be back in the kitchen cooking REAL food and not doing eggs all the time.

Unfortunately my request was denied for whatever reason that I’m not told of.

Cause I’ve been at the egg station for quite awhile now, I’ve somehow managed to be given a new nickname by my colleagues.

So as of now, I’m called ‘The prince of breakfast station’.

Really LOL right??? At first i was called ‘Waffle Wayne’ and now this. -_-”

Anyway, today’s breakfast was quite ’slow’. Not much guest woke up for breakfast, which is a good thing and that gave me and Kevin a little ‘FUN’ time.

We made had lots of really ‘bo liao’ conversations and really laugh till our stomach started to ache.

While watching the lobsters moving around the tank, minding their own business, I suddenly had this really crazy idea….

I bet you guys have wondered how it feels like to experience something that the normal average person won’t dare to do right?

Remembered when I said that i had a crazy idea while looking at the lobsters?

Well, that idea of mine was……………

TO GET PINCHED BY A LOBSTER!!!!!

So i told Kevin….

Me: “Eh kevin, I wanna know how it feels like to get pinched by a lobster.

Kevin: “YOU SEOW AH!!!!!”

Me: “But don’t you wanna know what it feels like too?”

Kevin: “Ya, but but but….. thinking of it is 1 thing, doing it is another.”

Me: “Never mind, I wanna try.”

Kevin: “Ok ok… I get the one with the smallest claw.”

Me: “No no… If wanna do, get the one with the biggest claw.”

So kevin chose a lobster with a HUGE claw.

Kevin came up with a plan, he suggest that we do this stunt under a controlled enviroment.

He will hold both tips of the claw firmly so that when the lobster decides to snap it’s claw, kevin could pull it apart and i could free my finger.

So we went on to do the stunt.

The 1st few tries was rather unsuccessful, the lobster just wouldn’t close it’s claw on my finger.

On the fifth try without any warning, the lobster closed it’s claw and kevin started pulling the both ends apart but he was unsuccessful.

So i had no choice but to pull my finger out from the lobster’s grip.

According to Kevin, he was surprised that the lobster’s grip was quite powerful.

So do you guys wanna know how it feels like???

Hmmm….. how should i put it?

Well, the pain that i felt was not ‘cutting’ sort of pain but rather the ‘crushing’ type.

If you guys wanna know how it feels like without getting pinched by a lobster, just put your finger between 2 chopsticks and get a friend to clamp down on the 2 chopsticks, the feeling should be the same.

BTW, you better be sure that the friend you’re getting to help you on the experiment is a real friend.

Guest: “Can i have 2 hard boil eggs?”

Me: “Certainly sir.”

~Guest stands there waiting for his eggs~

Me: “Sir, the eggs won’t be ready so soon, it’ll take between 8-10mins for it to be cooked Perhaps you could take other food 1st while waiting.”

Guest: “That’s too long, I can’t wait that long.”

~Guest walks off and never came back~

Before i start. I have to make myself clear, I am not a racist.

I’ve got lots of Indian friends.

Now that we got that clear, let’s start bitching.

For those who works in the hotel line as a chef,

how many of you agree that MOST indian guests are troublesome?

They always have special orders, for example:

3 egg whites and 1 yolk egg omelette,

Half an egg yolk and 2 egg whites omelette.

With all these ’special’ orders, we are spending more time doing that order when we could make 3 normal omelette within that same time.

Best of all, they want the omelette to be spicy when they themselve cant take spicy food at all.

I got this customer asking for a spicy omelette, all i did was to add 4 slices of red chili and he said it was too spicy….. -_-”

What the fuck!! Don’t eat spicy food when you can’t take the heat!!

That’s not the most ridiculous, I’ve got a guest asking if the fried noodle was vegetarian.

I said no cause it has prawns in it, so the guest moved to another chaffing dish that contains chicken and opened it.

Next min, i saw him taking a piece of chicken, went back to his seat and started eating the chicken o.O

Aren’t you suppose to be vegetarian???

The next event is the cream of the crop.

An indian guest was at the salad bar and I happened to walk pass him.

He stopped me and asked:

Indian guest: “Do you have any vegetarian salad”

Me: O.o “Sir, salads are vegetables”

ARE YOU FUCKING RETARDED???

Compared to the other guests like the ‘Ang moh’, the japs and chinese guests, Indian guests are the most demanding and the most impatient and they are always fucking late for breakfast.

Our breakfast buffet closes at 10.30am and you could still see them coming in.

Thus delaying our setting up for lunch service and letting us chefs having lesser lunch break.

The sight of them makes me wanna puke.
